I hope you mean you need them to be stronger not uh oh I hear a strange knocking.
Yes you could do it. You need to pull the head, support the engine from above and then drop the sub frame and pull the pan. It might be easier to pull the motor and trans out but I don't think so.

yea..i mean make stronger..no knock or hole in the block..yet
hmm..that sounds like a all weekend project..considering id have to file the rings down to spec and check the rod bearings for clearance while underneath the car...i guess it could be done though...

I would highly suggest just pulling the motor for a job like that.

Not unless you want to do mains and rear main seal. Taking it out and separating it from the trans and putting it on the stand etc are a pain in the ass. If all you want to do is the rods and maybe the head I woild leave it in. The snubmount will support some in the front of the engine and you just need enough of a cradle to hold up the back with the trans. This ain't some damn VR6 there boy this is a got damn AUDI!:D

sorry, my mistake . It just seems silly to go that far and not take care of everything else while you are in there. We are talking about setting up the motor for a gt3076r or am I mistaken?. Why leave anything to chance?

ahh...the important things in life...:)
in all seriousness..the rods are the only wink link..the block, crank, and pistons can all take some abuse..the head..well, a solid lifter would allow a really high redline but other than that, theyre good too...aeb's just happen to be a little better

I'm vainly holding on to the aspirations of putting it in my Jetta Wolfsburg....but I can't an ECM and all the other things required to run the thing. :*( God, that's expensive stuff. Just like my 16V, I'd rather see it in a car running than rotting away on a stand. :C

Don't worry, Evan. I'm gonna' have to make a trip out there to see what your place is all about. :D I just inherited a ZEX dry system from my brother. :) Suddenly, I feel the need to abuse my Volkswagen. I hit her, becuase I love her.
I'm gonna' keep the AEB for the moment, but push come to shove, I'll sell it...just...not...now. :*)
