No diesel for under $4.00 left in Raleigh, looks like the state. I've seen $4.67 and $4.98 reports from the midwest.
Memphis is sitting at $4.10-$4.32 a gallon, which means that FedEx is hurting.
I've got about 60 gallons of B100 sitting in my house, most of it for the St. Louis trip over Memorial Day....
So. Lets discuss. What was Diesel when you bought your TDI? I think it was still $2.62.

I think that it was around 3.00 for me. Got it less than 1 year ago. The price was definitely between RUG and premium. Now the damn D2 is alot more than premium.
Threadjack: anyone know where is can get a steady supply of WVO? My neighbor and I are looking to manufacture.

Oh yeah? Well we don't even have 93 out here in AZ, best we got is 91! Diesel prices are sucking too, like 4.25 up in phoenix. Poor fuckers in San Fran are over $4.00 just for 87! Hopefully whichever nitwit gets elected president will *finally* step in and say enough's efuckingnough, my Secret Service agents are sick of paying $4 a gallon, when all they're allowed to drive are murdered out armored suburbans that probably get like 6mpg.

I Bought mine prolly 3 weeks ago, Diesel was @ 4.20/gal. I bought it on the soul intention on converting it to a wvo car, that and 50mpg... When 87octane hit $3.50/gal and heard roumor that it was going to make 4/gal this year that was enough for me. I might be the slowest car on the freeway but im not going pay ridicoulus amount for fuel when I can convert the car .
It's bad enough ppl are having to choose to put gas in the car to go to work or food on the table to eat. I was told the other day that ppl are going around with cordless drills drilling holes in gas tanks and stealing fuel. Sorry, don't mean to threadjack , just a small rant....

Just a word of caution on the WVO system.....
plan to dismantle the intake and clean it vigirously with a WVO setup. You might also want to take the head off and clean the valves and stems.
The reason biodiesel came about was there was this unattrative side affect to long-term WVO, other than coldflow, which was the glycerine component vaporizes into a horrible sooty compound that promptly sticks to everything, notable the valve stems. Over time, stems get more and more gunk, eventually... one drops.
However this happens much faster on turbo charged systems, and systems that have been modified for performance.
I'm pretty sure you could go 100,000 to 200,000 on WVO in that old Jetta and be fine, but just a word of caution.
Oh, and do post about your first oil spill. Don't think it won't happen. My brief 3 month stint into WVO collection taught me better, that's partly why I don't bitch (as much as I could) about the $5 pricetag of the local Bio-D; at least I didn't get messy filling up the tank...
