I posted this thread in my reigonal forum as well, but i was hoping to get some 2.0T expertise. I live in Jville i'm new to vw and i have an 06 gti. I have APR stg1 software and a new south boost gauge because i know pcv and DVs break frequently. Normally i make 19.5lbs of boost 1st gear peak then mid gear drops to around 15.5 16lbs of boost. Today i left the bank and heard a pop and suddenly i'm making 15lbs peak and it drops down to 10lbs mid gear. So, my car still under warrenty so i wanted to see what i would make using stock programing. I switch back to stock and now i'm only making 11lbs of boost peak and 8lbs mid gear and the car feels like an absolute dog. I called my local dealer, they tried to blame it on my boost gauge. Also told me that unless i was throwing a check engine light that the PCV or DV couldn't be broken. Is there any other issues that could create this problem? Or am i gonna be stuck holding the bag paying for a new DV and PCV because of that naughty Boost gauge i installed? Hope some one takes the time to answer or can at least help in any way. Maybe a mod friendly dealer?

10-12 lbs is the norm for stock boost on MkV's. That's what I seen when I wasn't flashed for a short time. To be honest even if it isn't the DV or PCV with the amount of boost you are running I would still upgrade them regardless. It's just a matter of time before you blow the DV with the close to 20 PSI you are running. I don't recall my CEL coming on when my DV blew but my car ran like shit and wouldn't run at maximum performance. I would guess if you heard a pop that some sort of hose is possibly loss or the DV got blown. Switch the program back to stock and take it back to the dealership. The boost gauge should have nothing to do with anything like you experiencing but the dealership always wants to find something to get out of fixing it under warranty.

ah yes forget the warrenty. Isn't that every tuners decison? Id like for all these problems i run into be covered under their warrenty instead of spending all the time in my garage. I enjoy that part, but not fixing just meaningless stuff. I feel you on the forge DV and PCV. I've just heard so many diffrent people with MKV's say so many diffrent things. Also it seems that most people in these forums know more about vw than vw themself. I don't know. I want to do all the tuner things like lowering and TBE but 6 years of warrenty tough decison. I think i've narrowed it down to my PCV though. No tears in the diaphram of my DV. I took off my forge dv spacer to make sure it wasn't getting hung up on it and it actually made less boost some how, so i put it back on and it went back to normal. Makes no sense to me. Why they gotta be this delicate. Coulding the über smart deutsch design a part that works?

if you replace the pcv with a factory unit, make sure you have the p/n off the old one.there was like 60 supercessions.it never hurts to try to have something covered.also check out the thread for the breather valve in the 2.0t section,it gives many different symptoms.

To all those that offered advice i thank you all. I just returned home from the dealership and it was the electronic portion of the recirculation valve on the turbo. The valve itself is normal but the electronic portion is busted and is only reading 11ohms. However they made me very hesitant to continue modding my car. They said that adding my CAI would void my entier engine warrenty including all sensors, and that lowering my car would void my entier suspension warrenty including cv shafts and boots. Is modding my car worth all of this? is this even a fact. Is there a dealership service center who is willing to realize that just adding more air and fuel and boost pressure to the car is just increasing its performance and that a EGT or TPS sensor should never be affected by a CAI or springs and dampers. Anyway If anyone has anymore advice keep me updated on what i might should do about modding my car. Thanks for all the advice on my boost lost pressure

even if your shish breaks under warranty...good luck with them fixing it #1 right or #2 at all. National is a f**cked up dealership, but they couldn't even fix my cruise control and they had my car for 7 days. Also, they wouldn't replace my trunk shocks..they said it was the hinges and guess what my trunk is hard as hell to open again. As for modding...either wait until you pay the car off to do stuff...learn everything you can about your MKV so if you break stuff you can fix it...or drive it bone stock and watch the rest of us have fun..lol

Warranties only make people feel good about spending $20k + on a car..it gives them a warm fuzzy and makes them feel safe.

some info for you and fellow dubber...

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act...google it...

Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. If the dealer cannot prove such a claim — or it proffers a questionable explanation — it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission administers the Magnuson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law.

Yeah thats actuall a great thing to know and i really appreciate you filling me in on that. I could just do not so obvious things. I have an ABD stage II CAI sitting here next to me with no cone for that ABD is slackin on. It seems like i got shafted getting a car under warrenty. Its just pointless. Why doesn't Vw have a performance division. Vw is the original tuner car. And by that i do mean air cooled beetles. 300whp wheelies are the greatest things ever. Why do corvette and GM guys get to go in and get all these aftermarket goodies put on at resonable prices comprable to other aftermarket tuners and keep the car under warrenty. It just seems like there is so many Dub tuners out there. Why not just catch up and make bank off it? Anyway thanks for the help man. Maybe i'll get out from between this rock and hard place i've found myself into. To mod and have fun and lose my high dollar warrenty. Or stay stock and think "well what if.." So much potential in these cars.

modding is fun, but spending the $$$ to do it right blows. But when your on a stock turbo and put down 217 whp and 254 ft/lb of torque it feels good. Good luck with everything man, and if you ever see a blacked out MKIV GLI with a CF Boser runnin around...catch up to me and say what up.

I guess I'll probably come off as a jerk but you should take some responsibility for modding your car as well. If it's a part that failed that has a fairly high failure rate on stock cars then might as well cover it. If it is something else or if it continues to fail you should consider an aftermarket solution. Yes there is that Magnussen-Moss act or whatever it's called you could try to enforce. Just remember that excessive warranty claims help drive up the price of new cars or make it so all warranty work pays like shit (that and the fact that Audi is bailing out VW while their sales tank :grinn:)

On a side note I haven't seen the PCV breather valve fail yet on a transverse 2.0T in the A3 but I've done quite a few on the A4. Of course there are a lot more A4's out there. Only seen maybe 1-2 DV's fail as well.
