Alright, so I broke down and had an AEM 'true' Cold Air Intake system on the old '08 GTI. Tucked behind the euro vent in the bumper, it did it's job well. I loved the power gain (whether real or imagined, as some people argue). When I acquired the Audi (A4 2.0T) I began looking for something comparable. Aside from Carbonio... I have to say... I was sorely disappointed.

Anywho. I ran across the EVO MS intake... and fell in love (as generally the build quality of EVO products is second to none). However. I've also seen A LOT of used EVO intake models for the 2.0T. Any thoughts? Comments?

I went ahead and bought the CAI.... but I'm curious if anyone has any first hand experience with them

I actually use one on my stage 2 MKV GLI with no problems. I have not had any problems with it. Works as designed. I can't compare it to other intakes because this is the only one I have used. This is also my first forced induction motor as well, so I don't have all the understandings of a turbo guru. I would probaly do a search on Vortex in the 2.0T FSI technical forum.

Eh. I'm not a fan of VWVortex. There's too much bullshit/ trash talk to sift through to make a search worth-while for me. Thanks for your experience though. Glad you haven't had any problems. Like I said, I know they have the reputation of making first rate products -- but seeing so many used intakes for the 2.0T just sort of made me scratch my head.

Guess I'll find out in a few days for myself. lol

They make funny chirping noises that you hear with an aftermarket intake. Some may take it as a bad noise or just find it annoying thus have sold their? It's not a bad noise, I'm pretty sure it is just the electronic DV you all have with that engine

I have the Neuspeed, I sure do like it. They also make a 'true' CAI extension for it.

Some don't like it because of the sound - there is a bit of a BOV type noise when the DV activates. Some people may need money and decide to sell, some people may be parting out to trade in or buy more mods... but yeah, most of the 'filter on a stick' intakes are the same.

I'm good with a 'BOV' type noise. I can't say it's completely desirable, but as long as I get increased air flow, I'm good. Like I said earlier, I know their parts are quality... the number of used ones just made me scratch my head.

Thanks for the input :D

To whoever moved this thread.... it's definitely for a B7 Audi, not a MKV VW. (As the original post would have indicated).
