what else are you doing...staying with stock valve springs?
I remember tyrolsport and chris86vw were playing with a 16v adjustable cam sprocket. Believe they found that the ecu didnt like anymore than 6* adjustment so they abandoned it?????
a4wdhybrid
October 10th, 2006, 09:45 PM
staying w/ completely stock head
dont have the $$ for springs and honestly, i dont really want to mess w/ it
i can throw these things in a stock head and be good to go..so thats what im going to do
there are adjustable cam gears for a 1.8t but the ecu not being happy makes total sense

dude...dont make me click on vortex to find out how it runs:mad: vortex...
idle? could be better..it doesnt hold as much vacuum as it did..im going to try a tba and im thinking about taking out the suction pump and just using a check valve like yours and travis's set up
10-20hp? bob said 30-40..its believable
what rpm? just midrange? midrange is only the beginning ;)
worth it? yep
trading out for a more aggressive one?:D prob not anytime soon  ...i almost ate the back of an suv this afternoon

awesome...I'll definitely be adding this on the future list. Seems like when you find the right turbo with the powerband you are looking for, this is icing on the cake. Looking forward to seeing if you get the vacuum worked out. Do you have two lines going to the brake booster as well, one being the vacuum booster...what a mess. Does it really need two lines going to it?...doubt it.
how has your a/f changed?
a4wdhybrid
October 21st, 2006, 11:56 PM
there are 2 lines that come off the mani, both goto the suction pump and then one line to the booster..does seem like overkill
to be honest the only time ive really looked @ the a/f was during idle and normal cruising...both seemed to be pretty steady ~14.7..the misfires during idle will cause a 15.x-16.x a/f..too little vacuum for the ecu
under boost ive been glued to the tach

I wouldnt fuck with brake booster lines, they did it for some kind of reason. It might be so you have power brakes during a certain situation that will occur for the first time after you do it while you coming into a turn very fast and youll have to stand on your brakes to keep from going off the road into a very big tree.

copy and paste..
If your idle is a little choppy try increasing the idle trq to smoothen things out.
i checked my settings tonight
my idle speed was @ +20 and the torque was @ 0
i bumped the idle torque to +10, started it, it stumbled a little bit and then seemed to smooth out..i didnt let it idle for very long either though
when i shut it off i put torque @ +11 and speed @ +30
ill report back tomorrow how it works out
