North Carolina have had several racing related deaths on roads in this area the past few years. Most recently the RX-8 that flipped on the 540 ramp and flew off bursting into flames killing several high school students.
Let's just say this area's cops have a very LOW tolerance for it. Hondas still race light to light, hell they can't get to the speed limit on Crapital Blvd before having to stop. Us on the other hand, can reach 80 before we know it.
Gotta keep it at the track.
Cheers mate.

Some Brilliant kid thought it would be a great idea to go 90mph on leadmine near strickland the other night... great idea until they had to close the road to clean the parts... clever kids. I have nothing agains spirited driving, but racing should be kept on the track. just my .02

every friday and saturday night a ton of ricers sit in the old navy parking lot beside target behind the triangle town center mall... i only know cause i can hear them out there racing on the side roads while im still inside target at work. i've driven by a few times but never stopped... eventually the cops come and run them off and they go somewhere else... not sure where though.

1) I lack a turbo
2) My car isn't paid for
3) I don't like being arrested
4) Given the insane number of deaths we've had in the past two months from racing or high speed incidents, there is no way I'd even come in contact with a crowd that is suspected of street racing
5) I already bagged my 102MPH speeding ticket and have the papers to prove it
Nah, not going to play with the easily ticked off.

2.0 NB's can do 102? Daaang :)
and, i've been there but never raced or gotten involved/talked to them. It's always been one of those situations where i run into the pack of idiots on my way to somewhere else. Nowadays they like to fill the parking lot on the corner of capital and spring forest. It's a hoot to see what kind of crap and, conversely, what kind of nice stuff people race - last time i was there, there was a young looking professional sort of guy with a NEW M5... parked next to a riced out civic.
but yeah, i don't street race for a variety of reasons - car is slow, racing is for the track, don't like tickets or the back seat of a Crown Vic, risk of life and limb and danger to others. In other words i'm a conscientious citizen, not a retard :) Doesn't mean i don't like to peruse some of their wares though!

shit, the fastest i've driven was 122... and that was in a WRX.
how long did it take to get to 126 in a 2.0 NB? i guess i'm just not that patient.

uhhh i have no idea. I was coming back from Tennessee, after a funeral, and had to be at work in like 6 hours... If we can find a stretch of road we can try to time it, but I'd prefer it be a stretch that's privately owned. I don't need (another) speeding ticket. It's electronically limited to 130, what the tires are rated for, and it will reach it. For the record, I also reach at least 5 grand in every gear to keep up with everyone else (if you were in the caravan to the feb fling you saw i was keeping up.. I know i passed a buck then just keeping up with with others on my bumper).

yeah i was in the caravan that left from durham, that's where we met. And i was having trouble keeping up with most of them, they were REALLY booking. But what an experience. And yeah i broke a century multiple times on the way to G'boro.

Come on now, I know that thing's got more than 5000 RPMs. I get the TDI up that high, you need to rag that thing out and get a little more speed out of it.. :) :)[/QUOTE]

Glad to hear there is some responsible drivers on this forum (within moderation). Capt Blvd was my stomping grounds back in highschool. Now its a breeding ground for stupidity.
And on the subject of the RX-8. A family member of the deceased is my neighbor.
There is a time and a place for everything. But I'm done preaching.

thats hilarious. I know the HP boys that more than likely filmed it. Did you check the Sir Mix a Lot? They have many more films around. But this one takes the cake.
Try to look for the E90 M5 video posted. Bud of mine filmed it @ Taco Bell on Capt. The M5 loses control spinning out in the middle of the road. And if you know the area....there is a crap load of traffic...as well as Lawmasters.
Yah....the scene moved from the old Vincents to the mall now.
Video reminds me of how much an idiot I was. Gah b00st!

To tell the truth, only two times I've ever been on capital since I've owned the jetta was to meet up to leave for H2O last year and to go to the fabric store with Jason and Stefano, which was the night I blew the tranny up.
I avoid cops, traffic, and idiots when I like to have a spirited drive. Therefore, that leaves crapital out of the picture for me.
