At long last spent a little time on the S4 again today....

First cleaned up the block I have. It is a low miles AHA that I had modified for 4 bolt main bearings.
Oiled it up and put it to bed until another day next week.

I got this 2.8l head from Aaronyous(thank you sir) and it is a bit gross but seems solid.

So a really long way to go on the head. Didn't even check if I have to put guides in it yet but I will. Then it's a real port and polish and cut the valve seats and in go the ferreas.

well I couldn't believe it. The guides felt super loose but fall within specs. A little looser then I want though so now I have to decide to replace for a more accurate valve landing at the risk of an off center one or run them as is. I really wish they were flat out out of specs to make the call for me.

well got the bowl work done and the intake valve seats cut. All ready for some pics and I had left my camera hooked up to the computer this morning and drained the battery. :o Maybe in the morning.

oh yea and I got up to $95 in the change machine before I broke the machine. May have to go somewhere else for that.

well to be honest the 2.7t is a 4 bolt. The 2.8na is the same block but bore 82.5mm and then they don't machine the extra other holes. I wanted the extra ccs and had the block. I felt better having the bearings worked then the block bored to be honest. Now if only there was a way to increase the stroke using chicken parts......:nod:

and then I started working on modifying the 1st-2nd gear slider for the transmission. I don't think I am going to show too much of what I am doing to it but I will take pictures to show if it doesn't work out;) Or will be offering the service if it does.

Finally can't stand it and have to brush the dust off. Been looking at the pistons for a while and finally got the rods in this morning.

now the machine shop I want to balance it is 3 weeks out since anyone doing good race motor work is slammed this time of year. Hopefully squeeze in the trans rebuild and finish the head before then. Then it just has to go together and in the car. Maybe I'll be tuning it by the time H20 gets here. :rolleyes:
