I'm new to the forum so be easy on me I'v been on vwfixx for awhile and thought I'd try this out.

I need a pl 16v block i have a guy on the fixx supposed to send me one and I still havent heard from him.

I have a 1991 jetta that the 1.8l 8v blew the head gasket. I bought a 16v engine but it had a hole in the block so I have everything I need but the block.

My project is a 16v 1.8l digi-2 fuel system with a 535 bmw maf,and a 944 fpr. Custom fuel rail and injectors. :gt-ogb-spank:

I am in Southport N.C. so let me know! Thanks.

827 has one... not sure of condition or mileage but he's looking for something to do with it. Your best bet is to post in the classifieds section cause 99% of these goobers are driving 1.8T's and have only seen my 16v..... :gt-ogb-spank:

Thanks man, how in the hell can these guys afford a mk2 1.8t swap.
When my car gets closer to being done I'll post some pics. Its going to be like I said a 91 jetta 1.8l 16v digi-2 setup for at least a year while I build parts for a Individual throttle body setup. I'll be pushing 170hp with my ITB setup, I'm going to shave the head and rebuild it. Before any of that on the intial build its getting all forged internals-rods-pistons.

My dad is going to meet with Ed next week since my dad goes to Hickory about three times a month and If its all good well bring it to his house thats where we are going to do the build. 9a 2.0l 16v pl head running on digi-2
I hope the numbers with the bottom end and the 16v I hope to get around 135 h.p. to start then next year ITB's. My goal is 175-185 na engine.

I have to find some lighter wheels I dont want too, I want to widen my steelies but I feel with 135 h.p. and a lighter wheel and remove the rear seat that thing will scream. I only need the rear seat every once in a while.
I also found a shop thats going to redo my seats just the centers _center top, center butt, and door cards for 200. I want a red and grey checkerd pattern very tiny checkers though.

It maybe Januaury before the build actually starts because of Christmas and work.

You selling you GLI if you have recaro's and you going to sell it to Allen let me swap them with before you do it.:oddeye-hellyeah:

1000 for a 90-91 jetta gli the seats alone are worth 350 with brackets. Hes replaced a buch of stuff too. If I had a grand I would buy it. the gli had a 2.0l 16v I think so its easlly modded.

dexter047
November 25th, 2006, 09:22 AM
NO, it's a GL, only a 1.8 8V. Low mileage though, around 90k. If it were a GLI I might keep it, if I hadn't found this diesel I would keep it but I really want a diesel.

My brother in law lives in Hickory-Lincolnton area, I could probably see it down there if you don't bring it here. It sounds like the seats will be nice, good choice on the pattern.

nice.. congrats on finally getting a block. you should keep us posted on the engine build with lots of pics. you just puting it together or are you cleaniing/painting it?

by the way allen, I ghot pics of the car, they just need to be loaded into the computer.

jetta-the-hut
December 4th, 2006, 03:07 PM
I want to paint it and do it up right but dont know if the weather is going to be good enough to paint. Plus I'm just ready to drive it again.

this digi 2 swap is going to be the hardest part and getting all the parts in advance so we dont have to stop once we start. After all these parts i'v bought now I'm going to have to swap my cat and exhaust for a 2.25 so the engine doesnt feel like it needs to fart. also going to pull out all the restrictors underneath to let it breath. I may put a vr6 muffler on it if I can find one.

Man its like we are the only three keeping this forum alive aside from like 2 or 3 other guys. and Allen doesnt even have a vw-Yet. Like I told you Henry when I get done I'll have some parts left if you need any.

dexter047
December 4th, 2006, 09:36 PM
My boss just sent two wrecked mkII Jettas to LKQ today. I was able to grab some parts quick though. Do you still need door moldings? I grabbed all four, I think mine may be missing one, not sure and I remembered you said you needed one. Let me know if you want/need it.

jetta-the-hut
December 5th, 2006, 04:12 PM
Cool yeah I need the driver side rear door you can see a pic on the fixx and see the one missing. Its the skinny moulding with no red stripe. Man you just made my day if you have it. Christmas is kigking my butt we had to put the build off till January. We are still getting the engine Thursday from Durham but were just going to piddle and sandblast parts and paint a litte till we get like 3 days we can build and not have to stop.

I also posted a pic in the for sale fourm ihere in the: wtb steelies thread.

Let me know about the moulding. Aren:upyeah:

dexter047
December 6th, 2006, 10:32 PM
yea they are the thin moldings with no stripes. I will put it aside for you. If we ever have a meet I will bring it, otherwise I will just send it to you.

Check out my new title on the fixx. Welty made me a mod of the general vw section.

My dad picked up the engine today and it still had the marks from the hone brush on the cylinder walls. What does that mean boys and girls?

Thats right the engine was just rebuilt before the guy wrecked it and the vw gods and Ed found it in thier hearts to bless me with it. Almost nothing has to be done to it so we can start bolting it together.

Still going to put a mycromater on it to check the pistons and cylinders and we'll check the bearing too we dont want any nasty suprise's. talked to my dad tonight and we are going to run the car for awhile and then I'll start getting the goodies to get me up around 200 H.P.

Thanks Again Ed.-(827)

Yeah thats fine I wont get started till then anyway on the build. where do you work now? With the overtime it must be good money and the good part is its before Christmas.
I'm still workin OT too only a little though. I picked up an extra week of vacation too so now I have 4 weeks and 1 flex day so I know where that week is going.

O.k I pulled my old engine it only took 4 hours, the guy helping broke the a/c condensor and then the fun began, found oil in the transfer case and the clutch was bound up with old built up oil,the motor mount was broke and we had to pull every pully off to get it out, now I know why they say pull the k-frame its easier to build and slide it back in.

The 2.0l is lookin good but its going to take a lot of fiddleing to get it to run on digi-2. I am going back on the 18th of January anyone with extensive digi-2 and or this swap want to help? I have a few more parts to pick up and a ton of sanding as you can see. I wanted it going by the end of January but I dont know if its going to happen.

I know how you feel. I just got thr tranny back in the Jimmy, put an alternator in the Saturn, fixed a vacuum leak on the Scirocco and put plugs and gas in the Jetta. Still got a list of shit to do, plus I just picked up a 88 S10 pick up, that needs a motor. I am starting to believe it when people say I have a problem...

Shiftlink
February 5th, 2007, 07:21 AM
If you pull the tranny out with it, or even separate it is way easier, I've never tried to just take the engine out. I've also never pulled the subframe to remove an engine.

jetta-the-hut
February 5th, 2007, 08:07 AM
Yeah to get it back in we will probly pull the tranny and then put it all back in all together.
