I need to see if anyone has a passenger side axle assy they could measure the total length of please.
The one that came out of my 81 Rabbit Truck measures approx 30 and 3/16 inches (approx 767mm)
The new one i bought at AdvanceAuto measures approx 29 and 1/2 inches (approx 749mm)
Haven't tried to install it yet - for obvious reason.
CarQuest is "supposed" to "hopefully" get a reman'd unit in today, that i can further compare/measure --- but wanted to ask if anyone here had one laying about --- in case CarQuest doesn't pull through.
The Axle Flange CAP inside the flange on mine was missing, except for just the outer edge.
So now, I'm kinda wondering if maybe the pre-existing axle was Too Long - instead of this new one being Too Short ?
Maybe that is what took out the flange cap - idunno - just exploring the dilemma now.
