I just ordered a new fan for our mk1 Jetta TD (factory AC). It had this fan in it:

Which has a resistor attached to it and matching wiring where the two outer blades in the terminal are rotated 90*. The wiring also has two leads that go to the resistor.

I ordered a new fan from AutohausAZ which came in and looks like this:

Which has all of the blades in the terminal the same direction and did not come with a resistor.

Questions:
Is this a MK2 style fan?
Do I reuse my old resistor? Or does this fan have resistors internally?
Can I reuse the same radiator fan switch?
Where can I get a fan wiring harness with the correct connectors? Or can I just splice on the new connector and otherwise wiring is the same?

splice a new connector, or just use nice insulated terminals.

bill,

i think i posted on vortex that i built my fan harness and we should have the wiring pieces you need

as long as you have a 3-pin fan switch in the radiator it should work

mine runs off the stock 20A fan fuse in the fuse block. no relays (wiring is big enough for 20A, which is the stock fuse size) or resistors needed, just wires right up.

you can just look through my wiring, which is all out of the car.
