That was a neat read. Now I know why VW put the distributer-style injection system in the US... it had a long run in europe in many cars and was proven. the PD tech seems like it's underestimated quite a bit, but they really had a hard time with the latter incantations (the 2.0 BHW and 1.9 BRM notably) with oiling-related wear issues to major valve-train components. I admit I liked the PD for the power, but the ALH feels a lot more... I don't know, dependable. So dependable, I hate to chip it just about.

I love my ALH, and I'm with you on that, kind-of want to chip it to make it scoot, and kind-of want to leave it stock.

One of my buddies has an ALH, he put some injectors and chipped it with a rocket chip thing, and he says he's up 1mpg since doing that.
