The downpipe on the bottom is the one I have now. I'm planning on getting a 2.5 catback system sometime in mid July, but I'm not sure its gonna be to grand w/ my current downpipe. As you can see in the picture, the downpipe is 3 inch, then a stepdown to 2.5 inch, then a stepdown to 2.25 to fit the stock catback. I'm thinking that 2.25 section is probably gonna ruin my exhaust flow and pretty much negate the purpose of getting a 2.5 catback.
So, I'm thinking I can either try to find a test pipe section that its full 3 inch or I can cut the one I have now at the first stepdown and weld on some 3 inch piping so its full 3 inch. So my question being, does anyone know anyone who might sell a testpipe thats full 3 inch or maybe 3 inch to 2.5 and/or does anyone have a welder/know of a place that could do it for cheap?
On a side note, who all is running eBay intercooler set ups? I'm kind of considering doing that later in the summer, I think for now I'm just gonna try and rig up something to help my side mount flow better. I'd like to hear how that worked for ya/ if you retained your DV or went to a recirculating BOV.

Just cut the 2.25 section of the test pipe off.

Then you would just need a sleeve(section of 2.5") to go to the new cat-back section.

GHL makes downpipe reducers for going from 3" to 2.5 they run around 30 for the stainless bits....

Thomas; do you have this stepdown pipe still?

I'd be willing to trade the stepdown for a straight 3" section...

*this applies to anyone in the forum who has this same pipe*

i have about a 14" section of 3" exhaust tubing if you need it

and quit bs'ing and just install the front mount

Haha, don't worry Ian, its my first priority right now...this thread is from over a month ago. Helke, you are in quite the bring threads back from the dead mood today ha.
As for this exhaust stuff...is your 3 inch pipe flanged like mine is (Helke)? I guess i could make it work either way, but just checking. I might not being doing this for a while btw, my recent front mount purchase put me in the hole pretty good, so I probably won't be messing w/ the exhaust till I can afford a cat-back (or lack therof) system.

Are you going to run Cat-less? I didn't see any mention of a new one.

Am I incorrect in my assumption that a Cat-Back does not include the Cat?

Yep I've been running catless for over a month now, and I love smelling like a gokart. :yum:

Helke: I'll be on the lookout in the next few days for a 3inch to 2.25 adapter, last I checked at some local auto parts stores, I could only find 2.5 to 2.25, but I'll check again. Oh, and does your 3 inch pipe have an 02 sensor bung?

very unlikely youre going to find a 3" > 2.25" adapter in a parts store anywhere around here

Yes it does have the rear O2 sensor bung, and I actually also have a 3"- 2.25" adapter that i could throw in the trade
