I got a jack and jackstands today, before I had just been borrowing a friends stands and and old scissor jack. For that, I just put the scissor jack on the reinforced railing behind the sideskirts and there was room on the reinforced part left for the jackstands.
Now that I have a hydraulic floor jack, its a lot easier to jack the car up, but theres not really any way to angle the floor jack so that I can get a jack stand under the reinforced part at the same time. Today, I just used "the widow maker" and had room for a jack stand with it. However...not to my suprise, when I was lowering the last stand THE FREAKIN VW JACK STARTING BENDING...the car started going down at an angle almost, so I threw the hydraulic on under the non-reinforced part and jacked it up, then took the VW jack out and lowered it slowly with the floor jack. I know I had the VW jack in the right spot, but for some reason it just started leaning over all the sudden...it was quite scary, but everything turned out okay. Anyways, I say all this to say...where/with what do you guys jack your cars up?

I usually use the frame rails, which are a little farther back than the widow maker supports for jacking up the front.

For the back of the car I usually use the rear axle beam brackets.

i usually put a 18" piece of 2x4 right behind the reinforcement on the pinch weld.. then i use a floor jack underneath the 2x4 (which distributes the force)

Trying to picture those in my head (frame rails). Are they the 2-ish inch wide things that run up the sides? I think I read somewhere that some guy was doing that and it compressed and cut open the fuel lines that run under it...I could be thinkin of something different though. But hey, that'd probably better than getting pwned by my VW jack so I might give it a try.
