Who has the better cell coverage in the area?
Right now I have Cingular/AT&T and it works ok except the townhouse in Cary Park which is where I will be living for a few months and I get a house phone until I buy a new home so it will be used frequently.
I prefer GSM because I do visit friends in Europe a couple times a year and like having the same number overseas, but at this point I will buy a prepaid card if needed for over there.
Thanks

I know I'm on Verizon and have been since I've had a cell phone. Used it in Maryland and down here in NC. I have coverage most everywhere without any issues. Only place I find I have trouble is my parents house but they live in the middle of nowhere. I've been able to make a phone call from up in the mountains too! I get reception in my dorm room with no issues as well, and I know a lot of people with other companies have a hard time with cell phone reception.

Had Sprint for years, it dropped calls all the time. Had Cingular for a year now, no dropped calls. Cheaper too, at least for my very minimal needs.

I had sprint for years, changed to cingular 2 years ago, and it works better than any others around. unfortunatly there are always low spots, but it seems to have the fewest, and i rarely ever drop calls

You have two chocies: AT&T (formerly Cingular) or Verizon.
Verizon supposedly has world phones that are both CDMA and GSM. One of my users at work just got one.
The only real choice is to get Cingular/AT&T since they are the ONLY GSM carrier in the Carolinas. DO NOT GET SUNCOM!

i had cingular for years, but their coverage is bad in some country spots or in big cement buildings... i now have verizon and I have not lost one call yet, and I can always text for free which is nice...
