Engine Filter???

I saw this:

... and am wondering what the "Engine Filter" is.. Anyone?

I have never taken my car to the dealer and am at around 62.5K.
I just had the timing belt done, and will be doing my pollen filter soon, but I have never heard of an engine filter...
