what is the point of bypassing or deleting the egr on tdi engines?
I noticed dieselgeek sold kits for the mod
just curious

It prevents soot from building up in the intake manifold, which over time will reduce air flow and rape performance. it also avoids the necessary 40-80k cleaning of the intake manifold (which is a dirty, dirty job).
This is my understanding. You should ask your boss for a detailed explanation and post his response, as I know he's cleaned out a few in his day :)

Also, you get increased performance and better fuel mileage. At the cost of higher emissions, however.

You two pretty much covered it.
And I hadn't even thought about my new status...Ian's boss and Sweaty's daddy......If only my father was alive to see me. Oh how proud he would be......

I can chant a few lines and light a few candles, raise him from the dead and you can ask him yourself.
'higher emissions' ... that perplexes me after Sunday's event. The woman running the booth on Alternative Fuel Vehicles said any diesel fuel or diesel replacement is not as clean as gasoline. The ASE Teacher from Wake tech stared at her blankly and said you definitely need to keep driving your Prius.
My NOx is higher than yours, jnecr. Even with EGR... which I am not certain can be disabled on the MkV/BRM code engine.

Why is your NOx higher than mine? Because of biodiesel?
I know you can disable the EGR in the PD TDIs, by blocking off the EGR inlet... :) But then you will get a CEL, and I don't think anybody has figured out how to keep that from happening in the PD engines..

dieselgeek says cel can be disabled via software but egr bypass kit they have for pd does not work with brm engine codes

I think the dieselgeek website is not updated for PD engines. I know for certain that they could disable the CEL for VE pump engines. But I never saw any info on disabling it for PD engines, maybe they found a way. But... it's kind of a moot point since I don't have to have an emissions inspection on my car anyhow...

do the newer 05.5 and up have intake clogging issues like the older ones? if so, where do u get a bypass for them?

I think they do have the same problems. The easiest (and most legal) way to keep the intake from clogging is to add some type of filter inline with the PCV Valve. The crud that comes out of this is what clogs up the intake, the oil combines with the soot from the EGR and solidifies and bakes in the intake, therefore clogging it up.
