do you think that beast will spool quicker? I thought you were looking for faster spool. I guess it has the ball bearings so it will spin better but still that thing is a big turbo.

a4wdhybrid
May 16th, 2006, 04:10 PM
you know..to be honest..im not sure if it will spool quicker or not..the guy im getting it from says it will spool about the same..i guess we'll see when i get it strapped on..

youre right though..that was my main goal..a quicker spool..but that also means id be going to a smaller turbo and i just cant do that..im hoping the ball bearings and newer blade design will help flow more down low

if my plan fails and im stuck w/ the same spool..well..i still got a gt30 :D

edit: theres a guy running around on vortex w/ an aeb 1.8t w/ a 3076r and he loves it..says it drives better and is faster around town than the 3071 he had previously..so who knows

edit again: http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=2598255

edit for the 3rd time: his is also an internal wg set up (even though it was welded shut and an external is used) w/ a 5 bolt discharge..the one above is a 3" vband..im going to assume its a touch more efficient..i was always told the 4 bolt discharge for a t series is a lot better and provides quicker spool over the 5 bolt discharge..same kind of concept here, single discharge path as opposed to that 5 bolt mess....that thing is sex though..my mind is made up

oh hell yea I wawsn't trying to talk you out of it. I think it will be sweet. New 1.8t dyno record over here maybe;)

May 16th, 2006, 04:32 PM
oh..you dont have to worry about talking me out of it ;) lol

i was more or less just laying my thoughts out on paper (so to speak of course)

i really really need sem and/or a higher rev limiter and i dont think i can do a higher rev limiter w/o some sort of new engine management

Is'nt that BillyT's dyno?

evan@absolute
May 24th, 2006, 10:35 PM
no idea. I just saw it after all the talk about idling etc and the afr is all over the place. The thing makes big power though so i really shouldn't talk shit huh

I'm fairly certain that's who's it is. It was tuned on a Motec SEM IIRC....

Spoolup AFR is all over the place.....

a/f is spot on under boost...could use some work yeah, but its good where it matters ...spool up is kind of iffy though i guess..

and yes, that is billy t's dyno

gd....now thats an inlet.

now I see why that thing was in a museum before....thass gonna be beautiful in the engine bay. Vband flange hotside...thats pimp, You said it was a .64, most of the 4" inlet gt30s I"ve seen come standard with the larger housing?

Time to run some more coolant lines....hehe.

the fittings and the hose (black hose @ that..everyone loves black hose) came w/ the turbo

Yareka
June 2nd, 2006, 06:56 PM
keep those hoes on tight lockdown...otherwise you get the flashing light like I do

You know...you could probably get away with running that thing at 15psi with the 440s...thats what you were running the t3t04e at so it wouldnt be slow by any means. That would get you up and going until the new injectors come in.

dont tempt me..seriously..its not raining here anymore and ive done turbo installs till 1am before...

im just really nervous about it...im really interested in seeing what kind of low end this thing is going to give me though...

Yareka

.im really interested in seeing what kind of low end this thing is going to give me though...

no one buys this turbo with low end in mind....unless you like hearing that really long drawn out spool sound....guess you'll be installing a turbo tonight:gt-ogb-spank:

a4wdhybrid
June 2nd, 2006, 08:37 PM
yea..i know low end isnt what this thing is all about but i would like some more low end torque and i thought the ball bearing cartridge might give me that..we'll see i guess..and im thinking about top end as well though too...

i need a good tune w/ a 7500 rev limiter...:headscratch:
