ok i have a 99 passat 1.8T..87xxx tip..new turbo just got put on..2inch drop and borla muffler.have problem with coolent..LEAKING from the back of motor..bought the car for 5500 about 4 month ago wit bad turbo..looking to sell or trade for a 00 and up jetta 1.8T..

check the coolant flange on the side of the head then the coolant lines going to the turbo... if you find that leak then it will increase your chances of selling or trading.

well changed that friday but still leaking from that area..i changed the whole thing..and after that my check engine light came on and the temp gauge wont read the temp..what could that be..

You paid 5500 for a 99 passat with a bad turbo? Was sludge involved in this somehow (oil starvation?)

buring the oil and smoked alot..

also fixed the coolent leak..it was the o ring on the flange..
