The one that was on it when dude owned it 2 titles ago?
You'd have to ask him, the pictures I posted show a stock knob in the vehicle.

Hopefully, whoever buys it will have better luck than the last couple of owners!

Na, thats not your old one. Thats Derek's old car that he stripped down after it caught fire. Derek sold this one a few months back after stripping it. He's now turning your/my old GTI into something cool. Itll roll again, turbo'd i believe last time I talked to him.

car didn't catch fire, thank you tho for the background.
The motor blew for everyone's info, I've inspected the harness and paint
no signs of any fire.... anywhere

Actually, yes; it did catch fire.

JUst ain't good month for Charlotte area MKIIs. Mine decided to give up the ghost on Friday morning. It was on fire as I parked at work. The fire was in the tunnel on top of the exhaust and was meting the soundproofing and starting to get the carpet hot.

It was acting like it was running with a clogged cat, but it doesn't hve a cat on it. Floor the pedal, it wouldn't rev over 4k and no power. It would die as soon as a load was placed on it.

You know, its not so much the fact that the car was on fire and is now a turd, but the level of restraint I had to exhibit as my co-workers are crowding around my car and asking or telling me that it is on fire. Thanks, I hadly noticed.

"Is there anything wrong?", nope this is normal VW operation, WTF?

Or my personal favorite " Try starting it up again. Maybe you can get it home."

IT WAS ON FIRE!!!!!! THIS CAR IS DONE, for now.

I asked someone to grab a fire extinguisher when I was pulling in and they laughed and kept walking. When I decked them out of the way to grab an extinbuisher, they were surpised that it was an actual request. I am somewhat of a joker at work, but not about certain things, like fire and people hurt. Jut not cool you know.

thanks for the quote proving that the car itself was NOT on fire...
like I said previously, the vehicle shows no signs of fire damage
everything mentioned above was missing when I got it

While were at it does anyone else wanna try and make this any more difficult to sell?
It's a friggin rust free 16v shell for under $500, honestly who cares guys???

Wasnt trying to make it more difficult, but it DID catch fire, the engine DID NOT blow. The other car Derek had has the blown engine.

And yes, it DOES have signs of fire damage, the underside is toasted. The underbody coating near the right rear side is melted.

Stop trying to deceive people. Youll never get $500 for that car. Hell, you only paid $250 for it to begin with. Derek bought my shell with the blown engine, but good everything else and MUCH better body/interior for $300.

Ok I'm going to repeat this ONE MORE TIME
This is a FS thread NOT a chat room

1. I traded 2 damn near mint Recaro's for the car + $$$
2. I've wasted over $100 in transportation fee's on this shell
3. At the top I posted best offer
4. Not too far below it I posted the current best offer of $300
5. All said and done I have a little over $400 invested in this shell
6. My previous post said UNDER $500
7. The shell is fine and I've stated that ANYONE can come look at it all they please

With the above being said I'm gonna say your a little fan boy and just love me sooo much you feel the need to stay in this thread and bother me. Seriously, you don't know the whole story and I've been more then apt to let anyone come look at the shell all they please. I haven't hidden anything and I've been more then honest in explaining the vehicles history as it was explained to me. If I'm wrong on anything, I apologize... but I've been generous to tell people to make their best offer and the highest offer gets the shell or it goes to the crusher. With all that being said, what the hell is your problem? Do you miss the mk4 forums on vortex or something?

I'm offering a rust free 16v shell for basically what the crusher will give me and I'm a bad guy???
wow guy.... I had no idea that was such a horrible thing to do, maybe I should jack it up to around $1k and see what happens

MotarArmy

douche bag is what you are bro.

And yes, i do know the whole story. i live a block away from Derek, you dont think he told me exactly what happened with that car? Hell, his took a dump the same week mine did, you dont think we had a conversation about it?

And Ive never been on the Mk4 forums, so no idea what your talking about.

Sorry that your bitter and bought a shell, spent too much money on it, now have nothing to do with it. that must suck.

i dont have a problem with anything. I dont care, just trying to inform potential buyers about the history and the condition of the car, because obviously you either dont know it, or you are trying to make it be something that it isnt. If you want, Ill call derek up and he can come post in here and tell the whole story of the car. he had it for a number of years and any work that was done on it, was done by him.

Here's the deal, I'm getting $350+ from the crusher for the car... its in fixable condition making it worth more then its weight at the crusher. If you have a problem with that, we can set a meeting place and time and discuss it in person. OTHERWISE, you've said what you have to say.... everyone's heard it, NOW MOVE ON

If a scrapyard is going to give you $350, take it and run! The price of steel is high, but that's rediculous; you'd be hardpressed to get that much for a complete car/truck, let alone a stripped out VW.

By the way; you sound like a total d-bag. Someone is correcting you on the history of a vehicle you're selling, and you're implying that you want to fight them in person? Scrap the car, preferably with you in it.

ROb,

The pics in the thread are used without my permission and were taken by me when I sold you the car 4 months ago. That's even my freakin cat in there. Please take the pics down and post pics of the car at your house.

If anybody wants to hear how the car left me IM me. I don't want to clutter this thread anymore than it is.

The car was on fire, as posted above. the only damage was charred undercoat and frozen e-brake cables.

The shell is solid except for some rot on the fenders, as pictured.

I haven't talked to Tom in a few months. He doesn't bother me. He's actually a cool person. Even though he rocks a Hyundai now.

Thanks for putting up new pics.

I released all information when the sale was made.

To clear it up more; The damage (an overstatement) caused by the fire will NOT effect the performance of the vehicle. There a small area of charred undercoat and the e-brake cables will need to be replaced.

This shell will make an awesome project for someone that needs to swap over a drivetrain. It's perfect for a swappin.

Thank you for your help Derek in clearing things up
I'm 99% sure you didn't mention the fire
But to be honest from what I've seen of the shell there's no need to mention it
All effected area's do not exist on the vehicle short of the ebrake n undercoat
Which I honestly would not have noticed had you not said anything

I'll get the GF to take pics of it ASAP and replace the pics
In the mean time I'd like to leave those pics for potential buyers
...with your permission of course

NO Rob. You do not have my permission to use these pics. You can take down the ad on vortex as well. (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3609121&page=5)

By using these pics you commiting what is called a "bait and switch". http://www.edmunds.com/advice/strategies/articles/55744/article.html

You are purposefully mis-representing the product which you are selling.

I am requesting that the mods delete both posts on both forums.
