Bit of a cross-post from nceuro, but I figured you guys would enjoy a look:

I know some of you guys have seen the car - but I would like to introduce the rest of you to my (somewhat) newly Stage 3 GTI:
http://blackforestindustries.com/stage3gti/Mk5gti3a.jpg

Its, as always a work in progress - but heres the rundown so far:

APR Stage 3 Kit
APR HPFP "Lift Pump"
APR Front Mount Intercooler
3" Test Pipe
Jetex 3" dual exit catback exhaust
BFI Torque Arm Insert
BFI Trans mount *soon*

Spax 40mm Springs
19"x8.5" BBS LM reps

Osir FCS GT2 Front valence
Osir CS GT1 rear valence
painted stock sideskirts/bumper
R32 Taillights
Crystal Smoked side markers
Inpro smoked mirror markers
OEM Golf GT front sheild and grilles (painted Porsche seal grey)

OEM Euroswitch
OEM Euro Cupholder
GTI Redline Mats
NewSouth Boost Gauge and Coulmn pod

Now on to the interesting stuff - Went to the dyno yesterday to give it a run, and heres how it came out:
http://blackforestindustries.com/stage3gti/stag3dyno1.jpg
Had some issues with it leaning out on top - I suspect I K.O.ed the stock diverter valve - but well have to do some testing to see whats going on - Theres definately more power there up top as you can see the car was breaking up in the high rpms (crazy graph above 6k rpm). It usually pulls harder above 6k so I suspect theres at least another 15-20 hp there once I get everything resolved.
As several of you have seen and felt - this car is quick :)
I do give test rides - and I will again once we get everything figured out - so if anybody wants to roll - shoot me a pm or swing by the shop :upyeah:

good lookin car man. my question is why your running stg 3 with a stock DV?? from my lil wealth of knowledge thats like the first easy mods to replace going to just stg 1 much less stg 3..not tryin to sound like a dick..just tryin to learn thats all??

he said he thought he destroyed the stock dv, which is common w/ high boost.. hence leading to a lean condition

keeping in mind that the post was made ~4 months ago, i'm assuming it's replaced by now.

I can't see a blown diverter causing it to go lean. Low on boost and power yes. Lean not in my experience. Fueling or maybe fueling would make it lean out up top.

if that damn pcv valve is fubar'd, that could cause a lean condition.

not under boost in the top end like his is. At idle and cruising under vacuum yes. Under boost it would be rich unless the ecu could adapt. Lean under boost can come from unmetered air before the turbo not after. Tuned mk5s are having a hell of a time keeping enough fuel pressure up top even with the aftermarket pumps from what I am hearing.

damn, i just got :pwnt:

the bad pcv would cause a low boost condition.....boost leaking from the intake to the crankcase.

Thanks for the comments everybody.. :)

Evan your right - The lean condition wasn't necessarily caused by the dv, but as it turns out it was faulty - it was a stock c valve and it would spontaneously fail under high boost causing what felt like a missfire. The valve wasnt torn, but rather stretched enough for it to allow it to break seal under high pressure.. I replaced it with a g valve and its better - for now, i guess im testing the limits of the stock parts.

The issue seems to be fuel pump relateded as mentioned before, or more specifically I think the electronic fuel pressure regulator - its been hard to diagnose because it doesn't happen very consistently (it happened to be doing it the day that I was on the dyno) but a recent episode when it was very hot out a couple weeks ago, tiped its hat that the fpr could be faulty.

I havent had much time to mess with the car, except drive it to and from work lately, but when its less busy I will go through everything and get it back on the dyno..
