i just flashed my 06 tdi se dsg with software from kermatdi, and man that thing is awesome to drive now.. charlie at kermatdi told me i should be in the 135-150 whp and 220-240 ft lbs at the wheels... :oddeye-hellyeah::gt-bb-chongin:

i've always been a fan of diesels, i just put the banks six gun on my truck... its ridiculous of what an 8200lbs truck can do and get 25mpg

i read about the last body style jetta tdi in the dieselpower magazine. theres an article about a guy thats getting 471 ft/lbs outta the last body style jetta!! and he drives it every day. wonder if the dsg could take that...

Seriously doubt that... Mine is a little clunky on the 1-2 shift in manual mode must be to much TORQUE:gt-ogb-spank:

Wow I've missed this.
I'd like to see some dyno slips for your tune vs jnecr vs mine. (just to compare the methods. We now have an Alligator/Kermatdi, RocketChip, and Unitronic diesels in the house)
The DSG shifts entirely different, riding in a Uni DSG flashed car was much different from riding in my own 5-speed.
Glad we have more diesel owners tho. Isn't 42-49mpg fantastic? The last tank of work/mixed driving was around 44 in the MkV bodystyle.
I totally believe 471 is an achievable number in torque out of a PD engine. I think 330 or 350 is the record for the ALH? I don't tend to follow the stats too much, I will admit that I am content to just have the economy and ability to pass pretty much anything with a 4 or 6-cyl engine that has 4 doors on it.

We have a 06 tdi beetle coming in for stage 1+. She already gets close to 50mpg before the flash.

Don't believe everything you read in those magazines. Is this the same one where he says he still has the stock turbo? There was a thread on TDIclub talking about a similar thing. Somebody in one of those magazines said they had 400+ftlb with the stock turbo. Please.....

let's see what she gets after software. But glad to hear she's getting good mpg.

Is it a DSG Buggy? I'm thinking she should see 52mpg if she runs 55mph.
Tell her that as someone who just got a 45mpg tank in a Jetta, and usually sees 42, dropping speed to 55MPH or 60MPH with cruise will increase the economy quite a bit.

that is why we had the nationwide 55mph limit.

Funny... nobody drove 55MPH then either....
It's not well advertised that slowing your speed will increase your efficiency. If people knew that right now they'd drive 65MPH to work everyday, instead, they drive 80MPH.

I think your wrong.
Memphis (the heart of the trucking south) had many articles about how the slowed traffic was causing headaches. People were running 55 religiously, gas was rationed in the entire state. It was far worse than it is now. Worse than Katrina (which was worse than now because we didn't know if we'd get more oil, now we're just wondering why the supply is costing our kid's kidneys).
I think a one-day dryspell would do this country good.

Here's one of the highest torque/hp numbers i've seen from a MKv tdi. http://jettagirlracing.com/Dyn/Dyno_PD-150s_ST-3B_AlligatorTune.htm
Not bad 200hp/350ft-lbs tq.

TDIs love the half-HP rating. I put 126.51 down, she puts 201.51 down.
I wish I knew what her secret was. I think she feeds it live hamsters.

btw... how do you get that in mixed driving. I'm hand calculating my tanks and can't seem to break 40. I will get close to 50 on the hwy tho. I dont think i'm broken in yet tho too. I only have 14k on the clock.
ninja edit: and i have the dsg. I've tried both manual and sport mode too

xtreem: I shift at 2000rpm religiously, I run exact speeds, I don't touch the brake unless absolutely needed, and I also think preemptively -- in other words you see a car 4 vehicles ahead slowing down to turn, with or without signal, i move over a lane immedately before the idiot behind them slams their brakes, causing everyone to come to a sudden stop. I also live in the right lane on the highway, and I have about 14 straight miles of highway driving one-way each day on the commute to work.
I have a slightly longer highway drive than city drive, but even in the city I opt not to use the beltline if I can, I use 35mPH streets and backroads, and drive 35 in 4th gear.
I've also got my PSI at 40 in all 4 tires, and I credit the rest to the high cetane of biodiesel.
jnecr: doh! you got me. YOU'RE correct, perhaps. There were a lot of hatches sold in that time, so some people changed habits. They might not have driven less but they drove more efficiently.

...and I credit the rest to the high cetane of biodiesel...
I like to argue. With that said here's my argument:
Cetane will have nothing to do with your efficiency. In fact, biodiesel has fewer BTUs than regular D2. So, if you switched to D2 you should actually get better efficiency.
Also, since I like to argue, you're not doing your engine any favor by shifting 2,000 RPMs. That will lead to a short turbo life from one of two things. First, it is very easy to get a lot of turbo surge below 2,000 RPM and, second, if you're not getting that then you are going the other way by not working your VNT mechanism enough and it is going to get coked up and cease, rendering your turbo useless in a few short years. And don't give me the mumbo-jumbo about how you use biodiesel and since it's the wonder fuel of tomorrow it will keep you turbo from coking, that is not the case...
As for the rest of it, yeah, that's the way to get the good mileage, just drive slow and pay attention to what's in front of you so you can make decisions that help you keep off the brakes. Because, afterall, when you are coasting your engine doesn't use any fuel at all.

I never said I got onto the interstate accelerating at 2000rpm.....
I achieve my cruising speed in 3rd, skip 4th, and set cruise.
I'll also argue that having driven to memphis on D2 and back and on B100 and back that I've not seen any real world difference. Most people who are using B100 have either seen an increase or no change. Before the B100 price jump, I had a few coworkers join the cooperative and then ask if I saw an increase in economy with B100, to which I said not really. Some people (early AHU/ALH) said they saw up to 60 miles more per tank on B100 than D2.
According to TDIClub, based on what I've seen off the boost gauge, my turbo is doomed to failure anyway.
When it breaks, I'll believe it.

Piedmont Biofuels, www.biofuels.coop. There is a coop card swipe raleigh pump (24hr), the one in durham is a different outfit but they let you get fuel there using a visa or master card (9-6).
